In collaboration with the Saint Paul Public Schools and the Minnesota Museum of American Art, Ordway Center produces an annual Honors Concert and Art Exhibit to showcase the exceptional student talent in the Saint Paul Public Schools.
In its seventeenth year, the 2008 event will further build on its mission to provide dedicated young artists in the public schools with a professional concert and visual arts experience by working with Ordway Center’s Arts Partners—The Schubert Club, The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and The Minnesota Opera—to provide schools with pre-audition clinics led by professional musicians. The annual Honors Concert and Art Exhibit has showcased the musical and artistic talent of more than 6,000 Saint Paul students through vocal and instrumental performances and a visual art exhibit.
The concert — including band, orchestra, and choir —performs annually on Ordway Center's Main Stage under the direction of guest conductors. This year’s event is on Tuesday, April 22, 2008. A World Party, featuring student performers, takes place in Ordway Center's Marzitelli Foyer preceding the performance.
The student art exhibit is presented in collaboration with the Minnesota Museum of American Art (MMAA) and will be on display at MMAA, with an opening reception on April 22, 2008. Come and celebrate the accomplishment of these young artists!
