Department Description

The Education and Community Engagement Department at Ordway Center is responsible for the successful implementation of programs to support work that is presented onstage through the Target® World Music and Dance Series, Performing Arts Classroom series, and Flint Hills International Children’s Festival.  Artists in this season represent a global spectrum of cultural art forms and present their work to both school and public audiences.  Education at Ordway Center works specifically with Twin Cities teaching artists from a variety of cultural communities and partners with school districts, arts organizations, specific school sites and college campuses in the Twin Cities, and other community organizations to deliver programs. 

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Work within the Education and Community Engagement Department in the development and administration of programs specific to the Target® World Music and Dance Series and the Campus Connections Program.

2. Data and statistical management of Target® World Music and Dance Series under the direction of education and community engagement staff.

3. Assist with community events surrounding the Target® World Music and Dance Series, including master classes, lecture/demonstrations, and public performances.

4. Assist with events and projects that are part of the Campus Connections Program, both on and off college campuses.

5. Other duties may include: excel data base input, survey analysis related to master classes and other community engagement events and programs, creation of summary reports, communication with outside community organizations and partners, video archiving and project blogging.

Duties include: communicating with staff members and program constituency, development of materials as assigned, assisting staff with events and evening performances, working independently of Ordway Center’s staff under the guidelines provided by internship supervisor, learning about Ordway branding and policies and applying to project design and coordination.  Ordway Center retains ownership of all project work made under the terms of the internship.

Qualifications

Education
High school or above.

Experience
Clerical or administrative support a plus; experience in a theater, non-profit, or arts environment a plus; experience in event planning a plus. 

Skills, Knowledge, Ability
Excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve are essential for this position.  Candidates must be punctual and reliable.  Must possess the ability to manage independent projects and tasks; be organized, detail-oriented, and flexible.  Familiarity with social media a plus. Interest in cultural art forms and the performing arts.
