Security Attendant

DEPARTMENT. Security
REPORTS TO. Security and Housekeeping Manager
STATUS. Part-time, non-exempt
HOURS. Variable schedule between 12-20 hours per week.
Monday-Friday, 10:45 a.m. to 8:00p.m.
Saturday and Sunday, 10:45 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Shifts are broken down into 4 or 5 hour shifts

WAGE. $10.50 per hour

Job Purpose

Primary responsibility is to ensure the security of the front entrance, public lobby and non-public facility premises. Secondary backup to monitor and support all activities at the Stage Door entrance and ensures the security and safety of the facility and its occupants.

Major Job Responsibilities (Lobby)

  • Ensures the security of the Front Lobby and Box Office Ticket Counter. (20%)*
  • Ensure rope sanctions and signs are in place in the Front Lobby, securing access beyond the roped off areas of the Front Lobby from the public. (5%)*
  • Securing/opening eight main entrance doors, removing and securing security latches from entrance and exit doors. (15%)*
  • Securing designated interior doors before all events and before allowing public access to the restrooms. Turn on tree lights for evening performances. (5%)*
  • Performing security rounds of the Front entrance doors when the Front Lobby is unoccupied by the public. (20%)*
  • Serves as a member of the Emergency Management Team and acts as the liaison between the Stage Door and the Front of House Staff. (5%)*
  • Monitoring the 15 minute parking area. Placing and removing the parking sign when opening and closing the facility. (10%)*
  • Ensure the exterior grounds and sidewalks are free of debris and any obstacles that might prohibit safe access. (5%)*
  • Provides customer services to visitors, guests and patrons of the Theatre. (15%)*
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Major Job Responsibilities (Stage Door)

  • Maintain positive image of Ordway Center through contacts with clients and patrons and provide positive enforcement of Ordway Center policies and procedures, while maintaining the highest level of customer service. (5%)*
  • Monitors all activities at the Stage Door entrance and is knowledgeable about current events taking place in the facility. (10%)*
  • Ensures security of non-public entrances and exterior premises of the facility through the use and operation of the Card Access and CCTV system. (15%)*
  • Monitors loading dock parking, moves vehicles, secures vehicles keys. (10%)*
  • Performs detex rounds according to the shift. (5%)*
  • Possess a working knowledge of the fire alarm procedures. (5%)*
  • Serves as a member of the Emergency Management Team. (5%)*
  • Logs all deliveries, contacts the receiving parties, secures lost and found items according to procedure. (5%)*
  • Maintains a security log sheet of daily activities. (5%)*
  • Monitors the maintenance printout and contacts the engineer on duty if applicable. (5%)*
  • Possess knowledge of all full-time staff and their titles. (5%)
  • Received and transmits messages accurately. (5%)
  • Performs receptionist duties as necessary and responds to staff requests for special assistance. (15%)
  • Ensures event information is placed in the appropriate file folder day, week, month. Responsible for daily sign in/out sheet, daily schedule of events. (5%)
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must have valid MN driver license and ability to operate standard and automatic vehicles. Must pass security screening as mandated by the State of MN, and be certified in employer-sponsored course on CPR.

EXPERIENCE. Experience in customer service or security work preferred. Theatre background or interest a plus.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY. Strong communication skills; ability to work in a potentially high stress environment in a calm, professional manner; and ability to work independently.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED. Ability to operate standard and automatic vehicles, detex clock, two-way radios, pager keyboard and telephone.
