Department: Marketing and Sales

Reports to: Marketing Coordinator

Status: Part-time, temporary, volunteer. Parking provided.

Hours: Minimum of 20 hours per week; work within business hours. 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., with specific days and times to be arranged.

Length of Assignment: January 2012 – May 2012

Position Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the Marketing and Sales departments in the daily operations and activities of Ordway Center for the Performing Arts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help coordinate details on marketing plans
  • Work on advertising budgets and schedules
  • Implement advertising trades in exchange for tickets
  • Handle details of retail and media promotions
  • Assist in the coordination of special events
  • Update media files
  • Organize marketing files
  • Assist with market research programs
  • Make various phone calls (research, follow-ups, confirmations)
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned

Qualifications

Education
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor or graduate degree with a major or related course work in journalism, English, marketing or related field.  Theatre, visual arts, music or related courses a plus.

Experience
Interest or studies in marketing/advertising, public relations, or equivalent preferred.  Prior clerical or administrative support experiences in a non-profit, education or cultural environment a plus.

Skills, Knowledge, Ability
Excellent writing, verbal, proof reading, phone and
organizational skills is preferred. Computer aptitude required, with Microsoft Office experience preferred. A flexible team worker.

Equipment Operated
Computers, printers, telephone, calculator, fax machine and other general office equipment.
