The Ordway, recognized as one of the U.S.'s leading not-for-profit performing arts centers, is home to a wide variety of performances throughout the year that encompass the finest in American musical theater, world music, dance, and vocal artists on its Music Theater and McKnight Theatre stages.

We are seeking a Technical Support Specialist in our Systems department to be responsible for in the in-house service, maintenance, upgrading and administration of all equipment and software that is the direct responsibility of the Systems department. This position works with all departments to support our user base of approximately 60 full time staff in addition to maintaining our backend software and systems.

An ideal candidate has at least two years of experience administrating Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or above, Microsoft Windows desktops (XP and 7,) Microsoft Exchange, and Active Directory. Candidate must have a strong familiarity with server class hardware and desktop computers. Experience with Cisco networking equipment, Cisco Unified Communications and IP telephony as well as VMware virtual server environments strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain hardware and software for our network infrastructure and backend systems including routine updates and backups. Systems include network infrastructure, email storage, network data storage, user and user policy management, SQL server, web servers, VOIP communications, virtual server environments, desktops and virtual desktops, backup and server monitoring.
  • Provide desktop support for our user base and respond to help desk requests. This includes after hours on-call emergency help desk support on a rotating basis.
  • Train new users on our systems and policies.
  • Explore new areas of technology and look for improvements to our systems to help fit the changing needs of our users.
  • Adhere to “best practices” for all elements of systems administration, including but not limited to documentation of procedures and inventory of all equipment in place. Maintain systems that are compliant with Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards.
  • Work with outside technology firm for additional systems support.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school, 2 year or 4 year college work or equivalent experience required, degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience administrating Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or above, Microsoft Windows desktops (XP and 7,) Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory.
  • Cisco networking and VMware experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to listen to user problems and respond with timely and useful solutions.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work on a deadline.
  • Knowledge of the performing arts a plus.
