Ordway Center for the Performing Arts is searching for a seasoned marketing executive to serve in the newly created position of Vice President of Marketing and Communications. This key official will lead the organization’s sales, branding and public relations efforts while playing an active role on the senior management team, and report directly to Ordway President and CEO, Patricia Mitchell. It is the organization’s intent to identify the new Vice President in the spring of 2008, with a target start date as soon as possible thereafter. Acknowledged as the premier performing arts center of Minnesota, Ordway Center will offer the new Vice President of Marketing & Communications a compelling opportunity to join an artistically ambitious and dynamic organization at a crucial point in its evolution. Its next Marketing executive will find in Patricia Mitchell a nationally recognized manager whose exemplary leadership style is highly valued by staff, board and colleagues. Under her leadership, The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts promises to forge a new role as a vibrant force for artistic excellence, both regionally and nationally. The Vice President of Marketing & Communications will lead a staff of eight professionals in a coordinated effort to generate $12 -13 million in subscription and single ticket sales annually. S/he will be responsible for staffing, training and managing all marketing and pubic relations functions; developing and achieving earned revenue goals; and driving growth and visibility while ensuring a consistent marketing message on a local and national basis. The Vice President will report directly to the President/CEO, provide input into both short- and long-term policy and strategic decisions, and serve as a principal liaison to the Marketing Committee of the Board. The successful candidate will be well positioned for significant success and ongoing professional growth. Ordway Center will consider applicants with Bachelor’s degrees in marketing or related fields; advanced degrees in marketing or related fields are preferred. Successful candidates will have five to seven years of progressively responsible, senior-level marketing and communications experience, with a proven track record of achieving earned income goals and expertise in institutional branding. A strong arts background is preferred.
