Saint Paul, Minnesita (September 6, 2023) — The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts today announced it is adding new titles to its concert programming in the 2023–2024 season. The newly added performances include dance and concerts ranging from a Broadway musical in development to classic rock.

“We are thrilled to welcome these dynamic shows that will speak to multi-generational audiences,” said Ordway President and CEO Chris Harrington. “We are always looking for special ways our community can experience the wonder of performing arts at the Ordway, and we are excited to do just that with this bold lineup of can’t-miss performances.”

The Ordway’s 2023–2024 season will kick off with an exclusive concert, Behind the Curtain: Ever After In Concert, October 6–7. Audiences will be the first to experience the latest songs from a musical in development, Ever After, based on the 1998 film starring Drew Barrymore.

The Ordway also announced additions to its popular Ordway Presents Series—five distinct, one-night shows spanning October 2023—March 2024. The shows include:

  • Sphinx Virtuosi (October 15, 2023)

  • Patti LuPone in Concert: Don’t Monkey with Broadway (November 19, 2023)

  • Sons of Serendip – Christmas: Beyond the Lights (December 14, 2023)

  • Malevo (March 21, 2024)

  • Classic Albums Live performs Fleetwood Mac: Rumours (March 23, 2024)

“The Ordway Presents series brings a wide variety of shows to Ordway stages, and this season will be no different,” said Ordway Vice President of Programming and Community Impact Tanya Gertz. “We’re delighted to welcome a range of musical genres and popular returning artists, like Sphinx Virtuosi, and Minnesota premieres, like Patti LuPone in Concert.”

Tickets are on sale now for Sphinx Virtuosi, Patti LuPone in Concert, and Classic Albums Live performs Fleetwood Mac. Tickets for Behind the Curtain: Ever After in Concert, Sons of Serendip, and Malevo will be on sale tomorrow, Thursday, September 7, at 10:00 AM.

Behind the Curtain: Ever After in Concert

October 6 - 7, 2023 Ordway Concert Hall

This special concert event will include never-before-heard original songs from the musical Ever After as it continues in its development from page to the stage. A more realistic take on the Cinderella fairy tale, Ever After is a captivating musical in development based on the beloved film. Featuring four Broadway-caliber singers and a local 14-piece orchestra and choir, this concert will give you the chance to peek behind the curtain and experience the magic of this new musical on its journey to the stage. Tickets start at $39.

Sphinx Virtuosi

October 15, 2023 Ordway Concert Hall

Inspired by the poetry of Langston Hughes and Julia Alvarez, Sphinx Virtuosi presents a program showcasing the beauty and tradition of excellence inherent in classical music created and performed by Black and Latinx composers for many generations. Together, they seek to uplift spirits through sharing the sounds that inspire us and transcend the boundaries of time, history and struggle. Tickets start at $13.

Patti LuPone in Concert

November 19, 2023 Ordway Music Theater

“The queen of Broadway, goddess of the modern musical” (The Guardian) indelibly interprets classic Broadway show tunes, featuring music by the likes of Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart, Jule Styne, Stephen Schwartz, Charles Strouse, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin. LuPone, a three-time Tony Award® winner, also takes you behind the curtain on her lifelong love affair with Broadway. Tickets start at $68.

Sons of Serendip

December 14, 2023 Ordway Concert Hall

Billboard-charting classical crossover quartet Sons of Serendip won the hearts of fans and judges alike as finalists on America’s Got Talent (NBC) with their ethereal and emotionally stirring interpretations of pop music, arranged with a unique blend of vocals, harp, piano, and cello. This holiday season, they will bring their unique combination of charm and musical prowess to the Ordway stage in a special concert featuring selections from their second studio album Christmas: Beyond the Lights. Tickets start at $28.

Malevo

March 21, 2024 Ordway Music Theater

Malevo, created by director, choreographer and dancer Matías Jaime, is a thrilling all-male dance group that specializes in Malambo—an Argentine dance of great virility and dexterity—and seeks to take it beyond its limits, merging it with other dance styles such as Flamenco.

Named an official Cultural Ambassador to the National Identity of Argentina, Malevo has performed with Latin pop star Ricky Martin and Cirque du Soleil, enjoyed a year-long residency at Universal Studios Japan, and were semi-finalists on Season 11 of the hit TV show America’s Got Talent. Classic Albums Live performs Fleetwood Mac: Rumours

March 23, 2024 Ordway Concert Hall

The very first track of Rumours lets you know that heartache awaits, but that did not stop 25 million people from purchasing the album when it was first released in 1977. Layered and full of nuance, this is a tricky album to recreate. But the world-class musicians of Class Albums Live have devoted hours of time and attention to this masterpiece of classic rock and are ready to joyously bring it to the stage, with hits such as “Gold Dust Woman,” “Oh Daddy,” “Never Going Back Again,” and more. The shows join the 2023-2024 Broadway at the Ordway season, which includes the breathtaking true story turned musical Come From Away, a new production of the beloved classic Peter Pan, and the toe-tapping, dancing-in-your-seats hits of Hairspray and On Your Feet!
